Habanero Hot Sauce Recipe

Want to melt your tongue off with the best habanero hot sauce recipe? Uncle Daddy has you covered! I've got several habanero sauce recipes, including my personal favorite below. Even though I like it hot, I want it to taste good too.

Mrs. Uncle Daddy can't even walk into the kitchen when I'm cooking up a batch of habaneros. She starts coughin and wheezin and just has to bail out. You should've see what happened when I had here taste some of my habanero sauce once. I wish I had the camcorder rollin that time!

I guess heat level is all relative, though. One of my friends practically drinks one of my hotter sauces with no problem at all. He's a long time smoker - not sure if that's killed his taste buds or what, but he sure can put the hot stuff down!

Anyway, here are the habanero hot sauce recipes including my favorite one. It has some seasonings in it so the purists may have a hissy fit, but I like the taste.

Uncle Daddy's Favorite Habanero Hot Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp. Red Habanero pepper mash (12%) salt or 6 fresh habaneros
4 tsp. minced garlic
1/3 cup distilled white vinegar
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1 tsp. Black Cumin
1 tsp. Allspice
1/2 tsp. Curry Powder
1/2 tsp of salt (only if using fresh habaneros)

Directions:

1. Put everything in a medium saucepan and simmer for 10 minutes.

2. Transer to blender and blend until not quite pureed. I like to see some pieces of stuff when it's done!

3. Add water or vinegar to desired thickness. If you want it more tangy, use vinegar. If the tang is good, thin with water.

4. Adjust salt. Use about a half teaspoon if you used fresh habaneros. If you used mash you probably don't need any salt because the mash is already salty.

Uncle Daddy's (not quite) Favorite Curried Habanero Hot Sauce Recipe

This one is spiced differently than the one above, but both are very good!

Ingredients:

3 Tbsp. Red Habanero pepper mash (12%) salt or 10 fresh habaneros
1/2 c Onion, chopped
1/3 cup minced garlic
1/8 cup Water
1/4 cup yellow mustard
1/2 cup + 2 tsp distilled white vinegar
2 tsp curry powder
1/2 tsp of salt (only if using fresh habaneros)

Directions:

1. Put everything in a medium saucepan and simmer for 10 minutes.

2. Transer to blender and blend until not quite pureed.

3. Add water or vinegar to desired thickness. If you want it more tangy, use vinegar. If the tang is good, thin with water.

4. Adjust salt. Use about a half teaspoon if you used fresh habaneros. If you used mash you probably don't need any salt because the mash is already salty.

I really like the curry in the habanero sauce recipe. Let me know how you like it!

Now, I like to barbecue and use my smoker almost as much as making and eating hot sauce. So why not do both? This sauce has a great smokey flavor!

Uncle Daddy's Smoked Habanero and Roasted Garlic Pepper Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:

6 Habaneros, stemmed and chopped or 6 tsp habanero mash
6 Habaneros smoked (see note below)
1/2 c Carrots, chopped
1/2 c Onion, chopped
2 Garlic cloves, roasted
1 Tbsp Olive oil
1/8 cup Water
1/2 cup White vinegar
1/4 cup Lime juice
Salt to taste (not if using mash)

Note: Smoke habanero peppers whole on a smoker at about 225 deg F until they are brown and smoky - about 30 minutes. Habaneros should still be a bit flexible and not dried/burnt to a crisp. A great time to do this is when you finish smoking some pulled pork and already have the smoker out!

Smoked Habaneros

If you don't have a smoker you can also roast on a charcoal grill until the pepper skins are browned. It's not quite as rich and smokey this way, but a good substitue if you don't have a smoker.

Directions:

1. Roast garlic cloves (with skin on) in dry saucepan until browned in spots and soft.

2. Peel garlic cloves and return to pan with oil. Add carrots, onions and cook a few minutes. Add water, vinegar, and lime juice and cook 5 more minutes.

3. Remove stems from smoked habaneros and put into a blender along with everyting in the pan. Blend until almost pureed.

4. Adjust salt. Use about a half teaspoon if you used fresh habaneros. If you used mash you probably don't need any salt because the mash is already salty.
